Hey guys,
I'm modelling a couple of car atm, and I'd like to know how many polygons (tris) a car should have to be a good balance between "weight" and performance for the graphic.
I'm asking this because I know 3d models for games are usually low poly but looking at some screenshots here around I noticed cars with up to 200K polygons :o
Sure it looks amazing a detail like that, and maybe could run pretty smooth if we talk about 1 car lapping in the track (an optimized track), but think if tomorrow we'll have up to 32 players online in the same server... could only means problems.

Thanks

I'm glad to hear that!
I think that the max number of polygons shouldn't exceed 50-80k for both exterior and cockpit. That's for the max level of detail.
LOD can help with distant cars.
